Canadian English Mentor

Teen/Young Adult Mentoring program Part A* - an 8 month Journey that includes both a weekly group class for 50 minutes and a 15-20 min mentor check in with each student. (follow up from the class topic and knowledge/mentoring support) 

Vision: to teach academic, life, and business skills to help 

teens/young adults prepare for their future.

Course 1 - You, others, and the world

Personality, likes and dislikes, positive mindset,

Confidence when interacting with others (family, neighbours, and people from other cultures) 

What is in the world and how we fit into that (current news, big tech companies, World difficulties and problems)

10 classes

Course 2 - Health and Wealth

Time management, personal care (sleep, physical health, mental health (anger, anxiety, self-image/ self confidence), and money management skills

8 classes

Course 3 - Career planning

Career choices, personal aptitude, formal/informal educational options including micro-credentials, 

resumes, job interviews, volunteering and starting your first job

Pathways to immigration* (for International students)

Bonus - finding Canadian Scholarships and Grants to pay for higher education.

*information provided by the Government of Canada website and other resources including an introduction to 3-4 Immigration consultants.

 

10 classes

Cost is $600 if paid in full or two payments ($300 before the program starts and $300 at the start of month 4). Otherwise, a deposit of $150 is needed and then $75/month for 7 months (total is $675)

Teen/Young Adult Mentoring program Part B - optional courses that can be taken in any order AFTER Part A has been successfully completed. ($300 per course. Each course is 10 sessions (about 2 1/2 months) long)

- Entrepreneurship 101A (starting a business) 

- Entrepreneurship 101B (Starting an Online Business),                     

-  Entrepreneurship 202 (Growing your business with social media)**

- Public Speaking and Debates, 

- Sales and Negotiations,

- Understanding AI and technology.

- 4 month Volunteering with the Teen/Young Adult Mentoring program***


** Entrepreneurship 101A or Entrepreneurship 101B must be successfully completed BEFORE taking Entrepreneurship 202

*** Upon Successful completion of the volunteer program, paid positions may be offered to some of the participants.
